Back to Broome

This information block is at the intersection of the Tanami and the sealed road to Halls Creek. We had some great rain clouds in the distance. Little did we know that they would keep us entertained on the trip!!!

This was the first sign of trouble, just before the end of the Tanami. Some creative cable ties later we were back on the road.

Not even creative cable ties would fix this one. The car stopped and didn’t want to start again. We were half way between Halls Creek and Fitzroy Crossing. We were there for over 2 hours and not surprisingly, not many cars went past. One family stopped and the husband tried everything to help us. Unfortunately we required a tow truck to take the car to Fitzroy Crossing. We were entertained all that time by an electrical storm in the distance.

By the time the tow truck came, the bad weather made its way to us.

Some lightning in the distance

Amazing cloud bursts!

We headed into Broome by hire car from Fitzroy Crossing... kaching kaching 💵💰. We were spending the long weekend there and going to the Mardi Gras party 🎈 which was lots of fun.

This was the costume judging . It was very funny.

One of the ‘shy’ contestants!

We drove the hire car back to Fitzroy Crossing. Of course, the tow truck driver was also the car hire man!!
From Fitzroy Crossing we caught a bus to Halls Creek. Such lovely scenery to keep me entertained

Mueller Ranges... so pretty

We arrived in Halls Creek and as luck would have it, my car had arrived in Halls Creek a few days before, so we drove it back to Balgo. ..... but we did it without a spare tyre which was Russian Roulette. Our school troopy blew 2 tyres on the Tanami in 100 km yesterday!!!

On our way down the Tanami we came across a Ute with kids travelling in the back. You would have to have traveled down this road to realise how uncomfortable this would be.
