Decided to clean up my garden beside my front door. This is as far as I got before a whip snake 🐍 slithered past my hand.  The Yellow-faced Whip Snake is a poisonous snake, but is not considered dangerous. However, a bite could be extremely painful, with much local swelling. This weekend I am going to whipper snip around my house 🏠 I am ready for anything!! One Sunday afternoon we went about 10 km out of Balgo to a rock art site. It was soooo hot, but beautiful. One of our group taking some shelter in a cave I am sporting the latest in fly protection. The fly population is ridiculous up here. Some of the rock art..... look carefully half way up the photo. Wet season has passed as by and this little rockhole was very shallow More rock art to the left of my head on the darker coloured rock. Our troopy had indigenous handprints on the windscreen!!! The troopy is used by the attendance officers to pick up kids for school. 

Some of us flew into Broome for a week of induction into the Kimberley. They were very long days with lots of information. It was a great week also to meet the new teachers from other schools in the a Kimberley. This is the open air cinema called Sun Pictures. It is the worlds longest running open air cinema. The planes flying into Broome go right over the top when landing. !! The plane coming in over Cable Beach 🏖  The scenery when crossing from Balgo to Broome was spectacular. The colours continually change. This is the mighty Fitzroy River. It  traces a 325-mile (525-kilometre) course that flows southwest through the rugged  King Leopold Ranges  and the Geikie Gorge (where many freshwater crocodiles are found) and turns northwest through rugged country and plains, emptying into the  Indian Ocean  at  King Sound . Here is the ‘little ‘ 6 seater plane that was to take us to Broome for our induction week.  Up up and away  Enjoying the 2 hour flight over some amazing scenery  The dry inland Lovely colours  I would have preferred that he kept his eyes 👀 on the ‘sky’.  Apparently auto pilot 👩‍✈️ had it covered!! Flying into Broome  Balgo is a dry community so a small glass of champers was appreciated 

This is the lovely  KUTJUNGKA Parish Church. The first church was established in 1942. The church that stands here today is beautiful. All are invited to mass surrounded by great artworks and a strong indigenous theme. The service involves a lot of singing, both in English and Kukatja ( pronounced Googajar). Instead of the bells during breaking the bread, they use clap sticks. My house is less than 5 meters from the school fence, so it had to be killed.  It is also called  a Mulga snake and is a venomous . We went out to the ‘pound’ to see the sunset. The colours in the hills are breathtaking.  Sunset with the gazillion flies 🦟 Story time at play group  Dressing up in the cooks costume. It was soooo hot but she didn’t want to take it off.  We had a games day for senses day. We  played some water games to try to keep coolish!!! It always makes me smile when I see how many people can fit in and on a car.  Our  Balgo crew decided to have a night out. We only needed to drive 3 hours on a dirt road to get to Halls Creek!  We stayed over night and drove back the next morning. I was excited to get some cold water in the shower. In Balgo the cold water is hot because the pipes are under the ground and the ground is hhhhoooottttt! 🥵🥵 Rain on the Tanami. Only a little bit but  the picture looks amazing  Each Saturday we go to mass. I always take a large bottle of cold water for the children. This little poppet was enjoying the ice cold water 💦 ...

As you drive into town, the  Warlayirti art gallery is advertised on a car bonnet.  The art work is spectacular at the art centre. Local artists come each day to the centre. Many of the artworks are sold around the world. Soooo many art pieces that would look great in our house!!! Some of the artists at work  This is the art centre. The outside certainly doesn’t give away the beauty it contains.  The football ground..... yes, that’s red dirt!!! This is the shop. We are lucky as the shop has a good range of groceries. So many tins of baked beans ... happy 😃  This is the school. It is called Luurnpa. The name comes from a Dreamtime story about Luurnpa the Giant Kingfisher.  Some lovely sunsets
