Wow, it’s September!!

Thanks Girton, I use the RULER program in my classroom.  The children enjoy plotting their feelings each morning. A few of us headed out to Halls Creek for a long weekend.  Due to being in a remote location we are given a 4 day weekend after week 5.  It is so nice to go to the 'Big Smoke'...Halls Creek for some R and R.  We had a lovely tea at the Kimberley Hotel.  It was here that I met this lovely lady called Jennifer.  Her story was so sad, but her resilience and positivity made her a very strong woman.  Some of the stories I hear are heart breaking but the spirit of these people give me hope. This white rock formation is called 'The Great Wall of China'.  Having seen and walked on the real Great Wall, I can say this is nothing like it, but beautiful in its own right. This is a little oasis in the desert.  It is called Palm Springs, and at 35 it was a nice swimming spot......free of crocs!! Our poor little Xtrail showing the affect

Trips out on country

My class headed out to the desert just behind my house to walk along the dry creek.  We do Culture each Monday afternoon and this term we are looking at Strong Spirit.  The children love to walk around the desert where they feel at home in their bare feet.  Here they are showing the sap they collected from some of the dry shrubs.  It is like a mine field though, with the spinifex which is reeeeallllyyyy spikey!. In language they call the sap Murdiwah.  They take it home and add water and sugar.  It can also be added to eucalyptus leaves and hot water as a vapour to help with a head cold. The kids found part of an old motor bike and had a bit of fun.  Having a 'selfie' outside the church.  The children are sitting on the old alter, that was used before the church was constructed.  We had a mass for the Assentation of Mary I went out with 3 of the local ladies to help with their craft work.  They like to make seed necklaces and bracelets.  Here Cathy is putti

Third term is well underway

Gary, an artist at the Warlayirti Gallery has painted all of the AFL teams on car bonnets that will be on display on the MCG at some stage.  He has painted me a Cats picture....love it! My manky couch has been replaced at last.  This one is very comfortable. We had a bit of fun when one of the girls brought in a tube of pink lipstick.  It is hard to tell in this picture but we all had pink lipstick on.....even the boys.  Only one of the boys wanted to be in the photo, but the lipstick came off very quickly when the photo was taken. Each week a child from every class wins an award for positive behaviour.  The little fellow on the cushion won his class award, but was asleep when it was presented!!  So we moved the photo to him! Lots of red dirt!  There is no end to it......on my clothes, in the car, staining my feet and on my floors. We made another trip out to the lookout site in the pound. This weeks sunset.  So amazing.
