Week 8, two to go

Image
At church ⛪️ tonight Alfie sat with me. Gorgeous boy A storm was brewing and this lovely rainbow 🌈 appeared outside my back door. It was teasing us that rain ☔️ may actually come. The wet season has become the dry season.  Down it comes. It was torrential for 10 minutes which was lovely. It freshened the air and brought some well awaited coolness. This view is along my verandah looking at the next ‘house’ This big guy came for a visit. I have 2 of his cousins still living in my bathroom. They call out every night  🐸 🐸  We cook each Thursday. We were making pancakes 🥞. The kids did such a great job and they loved the opportunity to cook. Next week we are making ice cream 🍦 in a bag. Wish me luck!!!  Time to eat. This was the best part.... but they waited patiently!! My classroom sporting new artwork. I have had this class now for 3 weeks so it’s a work in progress.  This is our class Chsrter that we read every

It arrived

We had some fun making a Pom Pom sheep. The children had never made a Pom Pom before.  Icy pole making. The problem with this batch was that we made them in the morning and wanted them frozen for after school. Note to self...... they need much longer. But the next batch we made yesterday froze but we made them in a foam cup. Another note to self..... the icy pole doesn’t slide out of this. Needless to say I had a Hansel and Gretel trail of foam to chase!!! Back to the drawing board for next week!! Yes, my boxes arrived after 3 and a bit months !! Very happy to have my comfy chair.  My wardrobe now offers options!! Now for the unpacking. It was like Christmas!  I had forgotten what I packed!! Yo yo’s will be on the way to the staff room for Monday  We have not had a photocopier for 5 weeks so I had to draw 30, rainbow serpents. It got dark so I had to stop my tracing.

Never a dull moment!

For Shrove Tuesday we went across to the High School where the kids helped to make pancakes.  This is my classroom  Happy to report that my possessions arrived last week.  Finally I had some clean clothes.  One afternoon we went out to the desert to check out some sights From the hills, you can see that once many thousands of years ago, there was sea covering this area. You can see the ripples in the rocks.  ‘I am woman hear me roar!’ Getting down and dirty in my garden. I hoped no snakes 🐍 got snipped.  My house with nicely cut grass Out in the desert 🐪 climbing hills in 40 degree heat !!! Another beautiful sunset in the Tanami desert.

Back to Broome

This information block is at the intersection of the Tanami and the sealed road to Halls Creek. We had some great rain clouds in the distance. Little did we know that they would keep us entertained on the trip!!! This was the first sign of trouble, just before the end of the Tanami. Some creative cable ties later we were back on the road.  Not even creative cable ties would fix this one. The car stopped and didn’t want to start again. We were half way between Halls Creek and Fitzroy Crossing. We were there for over 2 hours and not surprisingly, not many cars went past. One family stopped and the husband tried everything to help us. Unfortunately we required a tow truck to take the car to Fitzroy Crossing. We were entertained all that time by an electrical storm in the distance. By the time the tow truck came, the bad weather made its way to us.  Some lightning in the distance Amazing cloud bursts! We headed into Broome by hire car from Fitzroy Crossing..

We visited the Art Centre and I loved this painting by Margaret. I have my eye on this one when it’s finished. So talented  Here is a close up look. Margaret explained the story of her painting which makes it more special.  The children were given a large bit of paper to do their art under the watchful eyes and stories of the Elders.  At Playgroup the children enjoyed some hand painting  At playgroup I cooked up a chicken stir fry to show the mums how to cook up a cheap and quick meal. I sent this containers home with them It was my turn to do the prayer at the Staff meeting. I did Lent in a bag. I enjoyed making the little pipe cleaner people for the bags This is all the clothes I have had since I arrived. I’m still waiting on a Grace to navigate the Tanami. .... yes I haven’t mad my bed 🛌 but I don’t have or need a doona!! Each week all of the classes present something at assembly. My class read the book ‘The Monster’. Parents and community are invited but we rarely have any takers
